I'm quite content that there are no worms in my feet, now I'm about to sound like a hyperchondriac but I now have had one of those maggots under the skin thing – pure rank!! So I started by trying to cure myself and spent an evening instead of being sat in front of Eastenders, watching to see a maggot came out my leg, this was one of the things I really didn't want, that and rabies are my major fears – the cat scratched me good style the other day so I have to watch for crazy signs in her over the next week!

Today I'm adding an extract from the health book we get issued with “if living in tropical Africa and you develop symptoms of a painful boil make sure there is no maggot inside” WHAT?! in the treatment section of this it goes on to say the faint hearted should leave the room, but its in my leg, how can I? How can this be serious?

I've ended up having to consult the nurse for further advice, I was somehow under the impression that these things would promptly come out when you start dealing with them, but apparently not, I'm suppose to give it time – and try and suffocate the bugger!

Another public holiday this weekend to congratulate ourselves for hosting the AU Summit, the President is having a BBQ. I don't know why Scotland wasn't into all these public holidays last year when we hosted the G8, although they do mean I've got hardly any work done in a while and I'm approaching the end of my placement.

Going on holiday next week to Senegal, I'll update after that, unless anything weird happens to my health that I need to inform people about!
