It's been a while since I blogged, cos I've been mighty busy recently.
There's been a lot happening I had my parents visiting and Elisa and Katy came out the week after that, think they enjoyed the visit although they did say living at my house was much like camping!? I'll take that positively, but I think the cold showers, lack of constant water and intermittent electricity takes a bit of getting used to – I may have forgotten to inform them about that before they came out (well I did want visitors!). So I was on holiday from work and have done lots of sightseeing and a wee bit of laying on the beach too.
In the Gambia there was an foiled coup d'etat plot, which is quite an exciting political moment. They have arrested the culprits and all is calm – to be honest all seemed calm in daily life at the time too apparently there was just more soldiers in the capital securing the presidents safety. I think I will not write much on this subject as this is not one of those ground breaking political type blogs! And we have just been issued a warning about writing blogs.
So on that note, if I have ever mentioned the name of the organisation I work for then there is a disclaimer they would like me to make clear, all the views expressed in this blog are my own (in case you hadn't guessed!) We got a memo informing us this is a requirement.
I have a pet cat now, not sure how well we are getting on. It might be a bit of a love hate relationship, as in she loves me when I fed her but hates me the rest of the time! She tries to bit you if you pat her. The cat has made four big (cat sized) holes in my mosquito netting, if I get malaria I will blame her. And I'm not happy that to buy cat food costs more than most people would pay for a daily meal, so I'm making her eat a bit of a varied diet! But maybe we will become friends, only time will tell!
A rat jumped on me the other day in a 'restaurant', have to say it was quite a surprise!
Now, I wrote that first half a while ago but the internet I'm going to is always so slow that I couldn't put it on yet. I attended another bash at the British High Commission, to celebrate the Queen's birthday (we have the official party now, cos it'll be too hot in June or whenever your suppose to have it. I was well amused by the whole affair from the matchstick picture of the Queen at the entrance onwards. (The fact one of the barstaff remembered my name from the time before was a slightly concerning revelation!)
